Guner Schirner

Gunar Schirner

Gunar Schirner holds a Ph.D. degree (2008) and a M.S. degree (2005) in electrical and computer engineering from the University of California, Irvine. He graduated in computer engineering from the Berufsakademie Berlin, Germany, in 1998. Prior to joining the Northeastern faculty in fall 2009, he was an assistant project scientist at the Center for Embedded Computer Systems (CECS) at the University of California, Irvine. Gunar Schirner also has 5 years of industry experience at Alcatel (now Alcatel-Lucent) where he designed distributed embedded real-time software for telecommunication products. His research interests include embedded system modeling, system-level design, and the synthesis of embedded software.

 

Kaushik R. Chowdhury

Kaushik R. Chowdhury

Kaushik R. Chowdhury graduated with B.E. in Electronics Engineering with distinction from VJTI, Mumbai University, India, in 2003. He received his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Cincinnati, OH, in 2006, and Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA in 2009. His M.S. thesis was given the outstanding thesis award jointly by the ECE and CS departments. He has also won the BWN researcher of the year award during his Ph.D. in 2007, and the best paper award in the AHSN symposium in IEEE ICC 2009. His expertise and research interests lie in wireless cognitive radio ad hoc networks, resource allocation in wireless multimedia sensor networks, and bio-medical applications of sensors. He is a member of the IEEE Communications Society and the ACM.

 

 

Ningfang Mi

Ningfang Mi

Ningfang Mi graduated with her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the College of William and Mary, VA in 2009. She received the M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas, TX in 2004 and the B.S. degree in Computer Science from Nanjing University, China, in 2000. She will join the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Northeastern University as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2009. Her research interests include storage systems, multi-tier systems, performance evaluation, energy/power management, web characterization, data analysis, system modeling, and scheduling/load balancing.
