M.S. Programs
Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering
At Northeastern the Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering can be research oriented, or it can be part-time for the working student. Many full-time students are supported under either teaching or research assistantships which are awarded competitively during the application process, and which are occasionally available at other times. Part-time students will find that courses are scheduled to allow them to maintain a full-time career. Applicants for part-time study may apply for admittance in the fall or spring semesters.
Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering Leadership
ECE Leadership is offered in conjunction with the intensive one-year Gordon Engineering Leadership Program. The program involves a full-time internship with skilled mentors and practitioners and formal instruction in the areas of Engineering Leadership and Scientific Foundations of Engineering. In addition, the candidate must complete four ECE graduate-level technical courses.
The cornerstone of the MSECEL through the Gordon Engineering Leadership Program is the Challenge Project. Each participant will define and lead a project in technology commercialization or deployment from inception to completion and will be supported by mentors who have a demonstrated track record of leading major engineering projects in an industrial setting. As part of applying to the Gordon Engineering Leadership Program, each candidate will be required to develop a Challenge Project proposal. The Challenge will come from one of several sources such as the candidate's sponsoring company, research and development within the Bernard M. Gordon Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems ( http://www.censsis.neu.edu/ ), or other market-ready research developed by a faculty sponsor from the ECE department of the College of Engineering. The project must be approved by the candidate's sponsor and the Gordon Center. For more information on the Gordon Engineering Leadership Program, please go to www.censsis.neu.edu/gordonfellows/
